Sun. noon-

Dear Mother,

Your last letter ‘rived and enjoyed very much and to save me I can’t remember if I answered it or not. Anyways, I’ll write again to be sure.

Was really glad to hear that you got to go camping and had such a good time and that you caught at least one fish. Guess by now you have gotten back to the old grind after the camp and the company. It won’t be so long now before the C.’s leave will it! I’m sure tho’, that they are anxious to get started back to school again. It’s much more fun then camping, fishing, swimming, etc, if I remember right (?)!

Was glad to hear that the cotton was looking so good and that they started working on the Ponde. Hope the mule gets OK soon. Did you get the wagon fixed up OK? Ester said it was partly dry there and the pasture weren’t so hot. Hope you’ve had some rain by now and that it will pick up some before frosty! Hope the cotton worms don’t appear this year.

I went to church this AM - enjoyed it a lot. Think I’ll go again at 4 this PM for a singing service and maybe join a chorus there, tho’ I have very little time for it.

Last night was one of the coolest we’ve had, tho’ it’s hot again today as usual. However, it’s not nearly as hot as it was when we arrived here and too, we’ve gotten more used to it. I imagine it gets around 110 degrees every day.

The food is partly bad and we hardly ever get enough to fill me up and what we have isn’t very “hot!” All our food is canned, dehydrated, etc, and the same thing nearly every day. Even the eggs and milk are made from “powder” – Our rations have been cut 5% lately! Only get ½ slice of stale bread for meal.

I have one more week of “drivers school’ and then get my “jeep” license, tho’ I may never use it.

One com. in our Ag. that is guaranteed on account of spiral meningitis – case-, so hope it doesn’t spread any.

They’ve started 3 day passes again, so I may get to, so I may get to Phoenix in about 10 days.

Write when you can -     as ever – love,

                                                                        Rus
