Dear “Sir,”

How is every little thing there now? O.K., I hope. I am still alright and getting on fine. I just got back from supper and now Willie and myself both are sitting here in the cab writing a little. We had pretty good chow again today. Ham for dinner, chicken for supper, and one real egg for breakfast this A.M. So you see we are not standing short even here in the land of the Krauts.

Today has been a pretty nice spring one here. Still gets plenty cold at night though. You should see how I have my mattress on, then my shelter half over that, my sleeping bag on that, and my two blankets on next, and then I put that big overcoat over my feet.

Inie” I got two letters just now, one from you of March 27th and another one from Mrs. Ellis. Sure was nice too. That is a swell old lady and how.

So “Buck” Willis still pulls those “stinkers” aye. I don’t see how he gets that much to drink unless he is drinking his Bay Rum out of his shop, ha-ha. He is a pretty good old egg though. Anybody is that has been over here and did what those guys done. I can feel for them all now. “Inie” is in some right pretty county than here. I bet it was pretty in peace time. I don’t see how in the hell these folks let a bunch of dirty crooks lead them into such a fix, but such is human nature I guess. Sure is sad that mankind can’t live together in peace as big as this old world is. Boy you sure see a lot of cabbage and salad patches over here. You can smell those rotten cabbages for miles too. Looks like pretty good farming country too from looks of the soil.

Yep as you said everything sounds and looks pretty good now. All we got to do is just keep pitching together and I am sure it won’t be long. I am ready too, any day as I have seen all the foreign sights I want to see for good.  Just give me the good old U.S.A. back in a certain little spot there in “Ole Va.” And I will be like a mole to find, you bet. Ha Ha.  Hope “Daddy” is making out o.k. and those Negroes are not worrying him too much these days.  Don’t let him try to work out of work before I get there now.  Save a little for me to get these “Kinks” out of me.  I got doubling up in this small “sack” of mine.  Ha Ha.  It is a puzzle to wiggle down in that “bag” too.  I am staying in the tent with old Willie again this time.  Not with that “Red” now.  Hope “Mom” is getting on alright now and not working too hard fixing and cleaning up things around there.  She will ruin old DeWitt’s feet for sure.  Ha Ha.  I bet it does look nice there now and how.  I wouldn’t mind cruising up in that old drive way about now.  I bet that “Miss Leevy” would be the first one to hear me and go to barking too.  It won’t be long now so just keep the tacks out of the drive please.  Ha Ha.  I wonder if Miss Lewis is there about now.  It is just about noon time there right now.  Keep her on the ball and take good care of her.  Said she was still gaining so the city life must be agreeing with her o.k.  The way those pictures looked I thought maybe she had throwed those girldles, etc. away and wouldn’t be a bother any more but don’t guess so.  Ha Ha.  Who hooks up all that stuff now “Sir?”  Well got to go to work so bye and keep your nose clean.

                                                                        Love and Kisses –
