Dear Nick,

I received the letter and also the money which we thank you for very much. I was terribly disappointed about you not coming home. Pee Wee didn’t come home either and he also didn’t answer my letter, he may be on maneuvers and has no way of getting in touch with us. There isn’t much news around here. Anna T. and the gang came home for over the weekend. I only spoke to Mary. Pop is ready to put on the paper on the roof. Lately we’ve been having rain and some holiday that is what kept pop back from working if it would stay nice for a while we would get something done around here. I got all new window shades except for the linen room and the dining room. I want venetian blinds in there. Nick, how did things turn out for you about this Army business.

I got two letters from Siller. So far, I haven’t answered one of them. Well, today is Labor Day and we’re not keeping it as a holiday.

Well, I think I’ll close my letter now, there isn’t anything to write about anyway.

Try to come home as soon as possible, closing with loads of love and give our love to George.
