Tuesday Night

5/19/42

Hello Nicky,

Well, how are things with you? I see it pays to be patient as said before. So you’re starting to climb the ladder to a higher rank by degrees. In time you’ll sure make it, I'm sure. So you enjoyed me last crazy letter? I guess it was pretty crazy for a change. I was in a funny mood when I wrote it. I get that way some times. I thought I wouldn’t answer your letter until I got settled. You see I moved into an apartment of 2 ½ rooms including the two girls I lived with. Boy, you ought to see the place is [great] and I mean it too.

We have a large bed room, a large living room with a studio couch, a kitchenette and a private bath room with shower. Also an electric refrigerator and a large range. It’s like living in your own home. So when you come around our section, stop in for a home cooked m-e-a-l. Don’t bring any bicarbonate soda because I’ll guarantee my cooking is passable. The place is freshly painted and the furniture is swell. This apartment is situated in an apartment house [with] all services of a hotel. I just got through eating supper. After cooking the meal so that leaves me out to write this letter while the girls are washing the dishes. They’re kidding me about this letter writing and listening to the radio program and to what they have to say. I promise to give you choice of a brunette or a blonde to sit across the table from you when you drop in. They just decided that we’ll have too much sugar on hand through rationing. I told them not to worry with me around everything will get used in one way or another.

We ought to have a party in our new house & tell them to bring a pot or a pan with them so we’ll have enough cooking utensils.

In this part of town the apartment houses are filled people from [Pennsylvania] so I guess we’ll live in Little Pa. N.J. Only I don't bother with anyone here because they are only wolves, and I mean wolves. If they see a girl walking down the street they whistle and yell at her just as if they never saw a girl before.

Sunday afternoon I went to a girl friends home to a party. Boy what a swell time I had. We had roast turkey with candied sweet potatoes, mash potatoes, buttered peas and carrots, and whipped cream cake and coffee and drinks. I had two Tom Collins and a few glasses of Schaefer’s beer. Boy you ought to see me. I wasn’t even drunk only a slightly dizzy. Boy, you ought to see us Monday working. We looked like dead rats dragged through an alley. R.C.A didn’t get many tubes made by us. Last week I worked 3rd shift from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., what a shift! Never again. This week I'm on days from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., next week from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. a week about. Well I guess I told you everything I know of so I better stop. It’s nearly time for me to go to bed now. I have so many things to do yet tonight.

So I’ll close with best of luck to you and wishing you a Load of Luck.

So Long Now,

Stella

P.S.

How are things at home? And how is your sister getting along? Did she have a large wedding? I haven’t heard from her at all. Also how are your brothers in the Service?
