74TH BOMBARDMENT SQUADRON (H)

Office of the Commanding Officer

                                                A.P.O. #662,

23 Oct 44.

Colonel Edwin M. Day,

Quarry Heights, Canal Zone.

Dear Sir:

It was with the deepest regret that I heard of your leaving Bomber Command for a new assignment.

I would like to express my sincere thanks for all you have done for myself and the squadron as a whole.  It is, to say the least, very gratifying to have a man at the tope who will go “to bat” for us, as you have done on so many occasions.

I wish you the best of luck in your new assignment, and hope that sometime in the future I may again serve under your command.  I can think of no better assignment than to serve under you in an active combat theater.

            Thanking you again, I remain,

                                                                                                Respectfully yours,

                                                                                                JAMES D. KEMP,

                                                                                                Lt Col. Air Corps.
