Monday

Dear Johnny,

Sorry I haven’t written sooner. I’ve had to do a lot of serving. I thought about you anyway. Hope you like it better now, but I still hope you don’t forget about me in all the rush. It sure did make me feel good to get an air mail special from you- also an air mail all in one day. You should try it again some day real soon.

I’ve got a slew of tests this week and I also have to make a little boy’s suit and a little girl’s dress. Oh me!! It’s not for me, sewing I mean.

Wish you could come up May 9. We are having May Day- Dance, etc. We are going to have a big time, I hope. Have you been to any dances down there? I met a boy from Richmond on the bus Easter. He goes out to Richmond College. I asked him about you and he said he knew you. He’s taking aviation at school. I forgot his name.

Later

We had a slight interruption. My room-mate just got two dozen roses. I swear they’re lovely. Today is her birthday, she has some stuff. Also I just got ten bucks from home so I feel pretty good now. Yeah, I sure can use that money.

I don’t know any news; nothing ever goes on around here. Went to see “Here Comes Mr. Jordan” the other night. Thursday night I want to see “Louisiana Purchase.” That is if I get my sewing done in time. Lord, Johnny you should see me sewing last night. I sat up until 1:30 and fixed my little boy’s suit.

My roommate sounds like she’s got the whooping cough, so we’re making her go to the infirmary. It’s a good fright. When I was going home and coming back at Easter it sure did seem funny to be in Richmond and not to call you up at least. I sorta missed you though. Well, I can’t think of anything else. You be sure to write soon and be good-

Love,

M.A.
