Tuesday Eve –

To my Darling –

Well – honey, to-day was quite busy – signing my name, changing these dog tags and trading in my G.I.’s and getting my white Sea Bag and Hammock.

Tomorrow - I will buy my uniforms, etc. I guess I’ll go to Quonset . They say they are cheap and regulation. They are giving me $150 allowance for clothes now and $100 in more in 60 days.

I have had a lot of thrills but believe me honey, when I was sworn in as a commissioned officer and believe me it was on my own – I felt a satisfaction that repays by far all the little things of the past 12 months. They were bitter ones but I guess I needed them. Well – that is all past but not forgotten.

9 days and I’ll come home to you honey. I will give you the peace you deserve too – and surely we have come from the bottom and are pious about it all. I thanked God for it all – and hope I can better serve in the future than I have in the past.

I haven’t forgotten the sermon by Rev. Menges on “Talents.” I hope I can live up to this the way I want to.

Well – dearest. I hope that the addition will be soon but I said 4 weeks and I expect it will be between July 21 – 28, but you and I will just wait and see what turns up.
