Franklin, Pa.

Nov. 1, 1944

Wed. eve.

My Darling Jimmy,

How is my sweetheart feeling today?  I feel pretty lonesome and blue but I am still in the best of health.  I sure do hope that you are the same and that everything is going as well as can be expected.

We are having another nice sun shiny day today.  This is the first of Nov. now and it sure does seem like such a long time since we have seen each other and I sure do hope and pray by next year at this time we will be able to be together.  Darling, I miss you so terribly much and I get so lonesome and blue that I don’t know what to do with myself.

I am always thinking of your and of all the good times we have had together and I hope they will start again real soon.  I was talking to Stella this morning on the way home from work about our trip to Niagara Falls and how in letter I got today you spoke about it also.

I reviewed three letters today.  They were written on the 16th, 17th, 19th of Oct. and I am glad that mine are starting to get to you better and I hope they keep on coming because I know how I feel when I don’t get any.

Darling, you do love me don’t you Honey?  I sure do hope you do because I sure do you and I always will forever and ever.

Pauline, Hazel and I went to see the show “Irish Eyes are Smiling”, with June Haver and Dick Haymes and it was pretty good.  It had all the old song hits in about the Irish, such as “When Irish Eyes are Smiling”, “Mother Machree”, “Let the Rest of the World Go By” and “Bessie in a Bustle”.  Whenever I go to the show I always set there and think of you and wish that you were here so we could be going together.  I am always thinking of you every minute of the day and night and I still bet that I love and miss you the most and I will win the bet.

You are the sweetest husband in all the world and I sure do hope that you always will remain the same as when you went away.  I know that you will always love me and take care of me and I will always do the same for you.

When you get back and we go on our second Honeymoon all I want to do is be alone with you and try to get caught up in all the loving an kissing we are missing now but I don’t suppose we will even get caught up on all the loving we are missing right now but we can sure try.

I sure did have a lot of things to bake last night and It kept me busy but I would rather be busy than not doing anything because it makes the night seem so long.

Hazel, Stella and I are going bowling tonight at 6:00 because that is the only time we can get an alley.  Pauline isn’t going because she isn’t going to work tonight because of her and Helen going to Pittsburgh to take there examination for the Waves and Marines.

I got up today at 2:30 and came downstairs and found my 3 letters and I read them and by that time Pauline was home from over town.  She washed her hair so it would be clean for tomorrow.

Darling, I am so glad some of my letters please you so much because some of yours make me feel so much better and just seem to hit the spot.  Some of your letters just seem like you are beside me talking to me in person which I sure wish you was doing instead of being so far away.  By next Christmas I hope that this war is over and everything could be getting back to the way it was several year’s ago.

I have never found anything written up in the Franklin Paper about your squadron yet and I don’t get to see a Pittsburgh Paper where I might find it but I never get to read one.  But I will keep on looking for it.

I don’t believe you can find a camera around here like you want because I don’t believe they are making cameras anymore but I will ask and see what I can do about it.  There are so many things that you can’t buy now that you could when you was still here.

Darling I am keeping all the promises and I always will forever and ever.  I am being the best and truest wife in the world and I always will just as long as you are being true to me.

Darling you said about some packages get there that weighed over five lbs well the post office here can’t accept them if they weigh more than 5 lbs. Someone had sent some through which weigh more and they all come back to the post office.  They really aren’t supposed to weigh more than five lbs.  I most generally get them to weigh too much.

Darling, I sure never want you to get your hair all cut off but you can keep it short now but when you come back to the states I want it to be long.  I like to be able to comb and brush the waves in place.  I sure do hope our children have real curly hair like there Daddy.  Don’t you?

Darling I can’t think of anything else to say so I will close now until tomorrow.  With oceans of love and lots of sweet kisses to you, my sweetheart,

                                                Your Loving and Faithful Wife,

                                                            “Ruth Alice”
