Friday morning

My darling Fran:

How’s my sweetheart this morning? Just finished breakfast so before I get busy doing something else I’ll drop a line to my sweetie. I feel quite some better than I did when I wrote the last letter. After I finished that letter Jack, John, Dye came down and we had several drinks to our “departed friend.” Henry returned from Kabe on the 11 o’clock ferry that same evening and he was disappointed that he didn’t get to see them before they left. We finally got to bed around 12:30. Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon at the British as they were painting one of our jeeps. While I was there I made an appointment with the dentist as my gums have been bothering me. At 11:30 I’m going out to see him, so besides having my gums looked at he’s going to tell me I should have a lot of other work done. All the boys rave about what a good dentist he is so maybe I’ll let him go to work on me. Yesterday at 5:15 Lt. Scherruble came down, just stopped over on his way to Kabe. We are all eager as hell for mail so when he gets here he gives us the bad news that he forgot it so it just means after waiting a week already will probably have + wait another week. Paul  is going to Tokyo to find out is they are going to do away with CIC on Shikakee and if not how about some replacement. There’s only a hand full of men (CIC) left on the island. By the first of the year he judges there will only be six men in the whole four detachments so you can see for yourself you can’t operate that way. It would suit me fine if they’d say let’s forget about Shikakee and send all them boys home. Regardless honey I’ll be on my way home sometime in Dec. depending on the amount of terminal leave I have coming and as near as I can figure I should have between two and three weeks coming. I’ve still get my fingers crossed looking forward to the holidays. Darling I’ve told you not to send me anything for Christmas so if you went ahead and got something anyway please  don’t send it but keep it at home. If you send it and I’m on my way back it will be forever getting back home. I can almost promise if I’m not home for the holidays I will at least be on my way. Honey would that be a nice Christmas present if I’m sitting under the tree to greet you Christmas morning. Darling in closing let me remind you once more that I’m still in love with you and I always intend to be in love with you- just you too. I love my darling more than anything in the world. Give my regards to your mother + dad, Geo + Blanch, and all our friends. Be a good girl and keep writing.

                                                                                                With all my love,

                                                                                                Your honey always.
