My Darling Fran:

Well darling how’s my honey today?  For a change we had sun shine all day, I guess the weather is lovely back home.  I failed to write you again last night but if I don’t let it happen too often I think you’ll excuse me.  Yesterday afternoon Mike, Bill and myself made a trip to Muya its about 35 to 40 minutes by jeep but it so happened that it just “poured” all the way home so we looked like drowned rats when we got back.  Anyway the trip was a profitable one as I was able to get you the silk I went after.  Remember in those pictures I sent you recently there was one with a Mr. A. and his family, well he presented me with a gorgeous piece of silk, its pure white about 1 yard wide and I didn’t unfold it but I imagine its about 15 yds. long. It’s surely a nice piece of goods and it should make you a beautiful blouse or slip or anything you want to use it for.  Last night a new man came in so now theres seven of us.  He just finished at Holabird in April and came right over, hasn’t been to school in Tokyo as yet.  His name is Vincent C., age 30, married + has two children lives in Mass. and has thirteen months service.  He seems to be a very nice fellow.  The reason I didn’t get to write you last night was because we had unexpected company.  Four fellows from CCD came in so we had to be polite and entertain them and just as they were ready to leave who pops in but Cooper, Morgan, + Reese with their usual bottle of scotch so I guess you can imagine what happened from then on, drink and chew the fat.  Their bar closes at 10:30 so they like to come here so they can keep drinking.  I didn’t drink very much just had three highballs so this morning I didn’t wake up with any big head.  I suppose you listened to the big fight on Wed. night.  I was hoping Billy Conn would win but I guess Joe Louis is too good for him.  We had a rebroadcast of it here so we heard all of it.  I also see in the last Stars + Stripes we received that all father’s (damn it) and all those with 21 months service will be on their way home by August.  I certainly hope by the end of the year they drop it to 18 months because you know honey I’ll have 18 months in Jan. so thats what I’m praying for.  I’ll put up with this place until Jan. if I have to but if I don’t get out then I’ll have all my hair pulled out.  You know how anxious you are for me to be home, well I’m twice as anxious to get there.  I’ve never wished for anything so much in all my life.  Just get me back in the states, they can keep me in the Army five years if they want but I’ll at least have my honey with me and thats exactly what I want.  We have sprayed the whole house with DDT so we aren’t bothered with flies + mosquitoes any more, we also sleep under our mosquitoe nets.  We have a small pond along side the house so thats a good breeding place for bugs.  Well my darling I think I’ll close for tonight but I promise to be back again tomorrow night.  Just one more thing –guess what, I love you and always will love you more than anything in the world, I want You and Only You so please be a good girl for Eddie.  Give my regards to your mother and dad, Geo. + Blanch, and all our friends.  Send some pictures.

                                                                                             With all my love,

                                                                                                Your honey always.

P.S.  Don’t forget the picture.  Love + kisses.
