My darling wife:-

Well here it is Easter but as far as this country is concerned it’s just another day. I suppose everyone back home is parading around in their new Easter bonnets. You don’t know how bad I’d like to be back home and enjoy the holiday with you. I got up rather early today because this sleeping on the floor is [edited for content] hard on one’s back if they aren’t used to it. It was raining when we got up but it turned out to be a very beautiful day. After we ate breakfast we took one of the boys down to the train. He is going to Tokyo to school. After we left the station we stopped off at the office and monkeyed around until it was time to pick up our rations at the station then we returned home for dinner. One of our jeeps had a flat so we had to fix it before dinner. We have three jeeps here for six of us so anytime we want a jeep we can have one. I certainly hate to see the week end come because there isn’t one solitary thing to do. I can’t play bridge and that’s all the fellows play. The radio is broke, we have a record player but us records the movies they show to the Japs we can’t understand, and everything of any scenic value was all blown to hell so you can see how much we have to do to pass our time on the week ends. During the week of course we are working so the time flies. Last night after I wrote you I wrote a letter to my mother and one to George so once more I’m caught up on my mail. This check I’m sending is one I cashed for one of the Nisei boys here in our detachment so since you have power of attorney I hope you can cash it or deposit it. If any questions are asked you can say this fellow had borrowed this amount from me while he was awaiting his pay. If anyone gives you any trouble see Mr. N. I hope you have received my other check so know whether or not to keep sending them. I want to send every cent home I possibly can dear so any money you might receive don’t be alarmed. Just put it in the bank so we have a little something when I get home. Darling I love you and I want a happy married life with you so every cent we can save while I’m over here will help us accomplish that aim. I hope you’re being a good girl because I’m being a good boy. I love you more than anything in the world. Give my regards to your folks and all our friends. Keep writing.

With all my love,

Your honey.
