Tuesday eve.

Sept. 25th.

My dear Fran: -

Honey I really shouldn't write to you because today I didn't get any mail from my dear but I know you look just like I do so I'll write you a short letter. Honey its only fifteen more days until you leave and I'm really counting the days and I know you are also. I just came back from the P.X. where Bob, Norm, and myself had a few bottles of beer so if I make any mistakes blame it on the beer. I spoke to Bob about you coming down and having Mary come up so I guess he's going to write and ask her, that would be nice if the four of us could be together. Honey I wish you'd bring me a shaving brush along when you come down as some [edited for content] stole mine today boy I'm telling you some of these guys would take the pennies off a dead man's eyes. Well today I spent the whole day on the range firing the B.A.R. I don't know what we do tomorrow excepting two hours of bayonet practice in the morning. We are supposed to have the afternoon off but I guess they will cook something up to keep us tied down. Dear don't bring a lot of baggage, if you get my Gladstone bag you should be able to bring everything in it. I know you'll want to bring a lot of things and I'm certain I'll be very proud of my honey but don't bring a lot of things you won't use especially your night gown. Don't worry I'll keep you warm if it should get cold. Well honey I said this would be short so I'll close and try to write tomorrow remember I said we were having a beer party in the Mess Hall tomorrow night. One more thing I want you to remember and thats I love you, I want you always and I'll never do again what I done before, I PROMISE. Tell your folks their son in law said hello and all my friends.

With all my love,

Your honey.
