Sept. 20th

My dear Fran: -

Well honey I feel better satisfied today because I got three letters from my honey, one from mother and a card announcing the birth of Verna's baby. As you see I'm finally sending the ring size. I knew I had it but I looked a couple of times and couldn't find it but i had it in my leather bags mixed up with your letters. My size is 11 the largest one on the card. Tonight is the first time in a long time I didn't go out of the barracks but as I told you in one of my other letters how I was taken for $40.00 so I've borrowing money and cigarettes. thats where the $50. I owed my folks luckily the night before I loaned Bob $10. so I at least have that much coming. About those Combat boots I spoke of, they only issue them when you go overseas so the next time I have enough money I'll get a pair that look a lot more soldiery. Before I forget it don't say anything to my folks about the money as I'll try and have it between now and the time I come home. This morning we had one hour of bayonet, one hour on "Scrubby Typhus Fever" after which time we practiced for the Regt. Retreat parade we have on Monday night. This afternoon we spent all our time on the Browning automatic rifle. By the way your letters read you're not too good, listen honey don't let those nerves get the best of you after all I think of you and want to be with you but I darn not leave it get me down. If its that bad come down for a couple of days. Joe D.'s wife is leaving Phila. Thursday Oct. 4th and she'd like to have some one come along for company. Shes coming on the train, leaving Thurs. arriving Fri. staying only for the weekend probably returning late Sunday or early Monday. It won't cost you anything for lodging as you can stay at the Guest House and I can stay with you. All I have to do is prove you're my wife. So give it some thought and if you decide get in touch with her at once. I don't know how it would suit Dr. G. but you can talk to him. it would probably cost around $60 to $70. for the three days including train fare and meals. Understand you may stay longer but you may only stay three nights at guest house. I just talked to Bill C. his wife is coming this week end and train fare from Phila. is $37.70 so if you feel as though you'd want to spend the money don't hesitate one minute to come. Well honey if you get a telephone call some night don't be suprised because I've been thinking of it very seriously but for one thing I have to reverse the charges and another thing I'm afraid you will be out and I'll miss you and that would be very dissappointing but don't sit home every night waiting because I can make the call person to person. It certainly will be good to hear my honeys voice. Honey I love you and I want you more than that I want you with me right here in Macon but don't quit your job but for a few days that will make me happy. I know I'll see you after my training here at Wheeler but we don't know what will happen to me after that and thats what I'm always thinking about. You know 2 or 3 months is bad enough but how about if I must go across for a year or more. Well honey I'll close for now so give this some serious thought and let me know. Remember your hubby still loves you more than any thing in the world and thats just how much he misses you.

With all my love,

Your honey.
