Sunday night.

Sept. 16th

Dear Fran:-

Well I’ve finally become the victim of circumstances. We’ve had quite a bit of stealing and Sat. it caught up with me also our Sgt. so we went and got the Co. Commander and searched the whole barracks. They were nice enough to leave my wallet but took $40.00 which belongs to my folks. They took the Sgt. for $23.00 including his wallet. I always put my wallet under the mattress when I go to bed nights then put it in my fatigues in the morning but Sat. morning I forgot to do that and evidently who ever took it noticed I forgot it so thats the story. I received your letter with the pictures and they are really nice especially the one of my sweater girl. I showed them to most of the boys and you certainly went over big, one fellow even kissed the picture and said he could love you to death. Thats exactly the way I feel about you. Of course some fellows wanted to know what such a nice girl seen in some screwball like me but we love one another don’t we. Bob, Joe Discher, and myself went to Macon this afternoon and had something to eat and took in a movie. We saw “Sudan”, not too bad. Bob called his wife tonight and she’s coming up this week end so I suppose I must envy him all next week end. He also called his folks and they told him they are having snow up on the mountains. Our blood will be so thin from being down here that when we get up north this winter we’ll need about three overcoats to keep warm. Maybe my honey will keep me warm how about it. A few of the fellows wives have been down but I don’t suppose they work like you. The fellow that sleeps next to me his wife is coming this week end, he lives in Phila. she’s coming on the train. I got a very nice letter from Verna today and she mentioned the nice flowers and cards you sent her. She wants to forget about the differences that you two had so treat her nice and I’m sure she will treat you the same. She told me all about the house in Mt. Pocono and about David getting out so I certainly hope he does get out soon. I guess you read about the hurricane they are having in Fla. its suppose to touch us lightly but haven’t had it as yet. Don’t know exactly whats in store for us this week but I do know we fire the grenade launcher also the B.A.R. (Browning Automatic Rifle). I forgot to mention wasn’t you ashamed to keep that little baby fish you was holding in that picture. By the way if I could only see and touch those lips that puts that kiss on the paper I’d give anything, next time forget the kiss and send yourself. I’ll bet I could make some of these boys jealous as hell if I had my honey down here. I’ll bet none of them has seen as nice a girl since they’ve been down here at least I know I haven’t. Well honey give your folks my regards also my friends. Remember I love you and I’m thinking of you plenty. I hope when another 6 weeks is over I can be with you.

                                                                                    With all my love,

                                                                                                Your honey.
