Thurs. evening

Dear Fran:

This may be hard to read but I’m writing on my lap. Well after I wrote to you and mother last night Bob, Woody, and myself went down to the P.X. and had a few beers then went to the movies to see “Incendiary Blonde” (.15c) then came back and went to bed. We don’t have to be in bed until 11 o’clock but we dare not leave our area. After we had chow this morning we went down and was interviewed that’s so they can place you where they think you’re best fitted. Following that we went to the to the Insurance and Allotment Dept. that’s what these papers contain put them in a safe place and keep them. Your allotment will come to your mothers house. You should have a check within the next few days. This afternoon they issued all our clothing both summer and winter with the exception of our field jacket and overcoat. It is just starting to rain so maybe we’ll stay in our barracks and play cards. The only bad feature about rain is the fact that you have to wear our helmets and they are too damn clumsy. I can strut around like a soldier now with my sun tans, that’s the regular summer uniform. Tomorrow is a big day we get our shots and we may even pull out of here tomorrow night some time. My clothes were sent home today so I guess mother will get them in a couple of days. I’m not writing mother tonight so I’ll write her tomorrow night but you can pass this message along to them. As I said in my last letter I miss you plenty and certainly will be glad to get home even if its only a couple of hours. I still love you more than anything in the world and I want you to wait. I’ll close now and write tomorrow.

With all my love,

Your honey.
