Easter Sunday

April 1, 1945

My Dearest Darling Wife,

Hello sweet little angel, how is my darling little wife. Awful awful sweet I know and fine I hope. You had better be dearest. Well sug no mail so far today but I am sure hoping some comes in before the day is over. There hasn’t been any mail for three or four days now so we should be getting some now. Gee darling your precious letters mean the world and all to me and they are so darn sweet. They make me so awful awful happy now dearest and make me feel so wonderful all over. Gosh Honey it gives me the grandest feeling all over, just makes a different person out of me dear. Gee darling won’t it be heavenly when we are back in each others arms and won’t have to write letters any more. You are so darn sweet dearest and I love you so awful darn much. I sure hope you are getting my letters all right now dearest.

I am feeling fine now dearest and getting along all right in every way now. I have plenty of everything now darling. Well Honey it has been a real nice day here, awful hot though. It sure has been awful today hardly any breeze at all. It just came up a little shower and cooled things off a little. Sure hope you are having some nice weather now dearest. You sure should be having some nice weather, this is the first of April and spring is usually pretty well opened up by April. I expect there will be a lot of rain for you this month though.

Well darling today is Easter Sunday and gee how I would of like to woke you with a great big kiss this morning Honey. We was off all day today Honey, never had to get up early this morning or anything and it was sure swell. I went to church and we sure had a nice service dear, about the best since I have been over seas I believe. There was sure a lot of fellows at church to. This new Chaplain is sure a nice fellow and really has a nice service. Gee darling how heavenly it would of been if we could of went to church together today. We will next year Honey and gee we will be so darn happy. If I had been home today Honey we could of slept late this morning and been right in each others arms and then got up and had our breakfast and then I would of helped you with your new outfit, you would of let me wouldn’t you Honey. Then we would of went to church and then had dinner and had the rest of the day to do as we pleased. Honey dear I know you looked so wonderful in your new outfit today, just like you always do dearest. Honey I would of sure helped you get ready this morning, yes I would have dearest and started with the first piece and right on up. Gosh Honey won’t it be heavenly when we are in each others arms and can be together all the time and help each other do everything. Gosh but I hope it was nice so you would take me some pictures today dearest and Honey if you didn’t get to take any today please take some for me in your new outfit as soon as you can now. I was so awful happy to get that precious one the other day dearest and the one of the house to. Yes Honey I could just barely see Peppers there in the picture. I’ll bet he is sure glad to see you when you get home from work dearest. Honey dear I sure hope you can take a big picture for me now to. Gee darling I look at your precious pictures so often. Every nite before I go to bed I read my prayer book and then look at your precious pictures dearest. Honey we are sure going to have our picture taken together when I get home on furlough to. Boy Honey things sure look a lot better in this war than they did a year ago. I think the Germans will be finished off in a few days now. By this time next year I think the whole thing will just about be over dearest and gee maybe we will be close to the time when I am out here or better yet already out. We will be so awful, awful happy and everything will be so wonderful dearest.

Gee darling we have our meeting planned so perfect and we have it all fixed now just like we want it. I will call you from California if I have a time darling and then just as soon as I get to Leavenworth I will call you and you can go right to our room. When I call you or telegram you from California you can quit work and be waiting at home for me to call you dear. I might not get to call you dear but I will if I can and I will telegram you to dear. Some of the guys really get home in a hurry and I don’t expect some of them have time to call. This one buddy of mine was in Fort Togan in twenty-six hours after he got off the boat and that is plenty fast time and I sure hope I get back that fast to. Gosh Honey I am sure glad we decided on the Pickwick cause that will sure be a lot better for the both of us and we will feel so much better being in our own hometown. Gee darling isn’t it wonderful to think about when you open the door and we have our first embrace in years. Gee Honey just your gown and slippers, gosh we will be so close together. Darling I’ll bet they won’t be on very long either. I’ll say all that follows will be heavenly dearest. Yes Honey, I know what have to do, you know dear what you asked me about, that certain fruit. The first nite Honey, how about it. Gosh Honey it makes me feel so wonderful when you write me like that. Honey remember that one nite when we had that little accident and we thought we had done that. We sure were scared but we made lout swell, remember when we stopped on the way home and got some snow to fix things up a little dear. How about it now darling, the first nite. Isn’t it all so heavenly dearest.

Honey you are so darn sweet and I love you so awful, awful darn much and you know I always will dearest. You are so darn sweet and precious in every way darling. Gosh Honey we love each other so awful darn much and our love grows stronger every day. Honey I know God hears our prayers and will keep us safe and bring us together as soon as possible now. Gee darling you are so pretty in every way and all mine to. Please take wonderful care of my precious parts dearest. They are so awful wonderful and I love them so darn much. Yours are fine dear miss you so darn much. You are the sweetest and most adorable little wife in this world dear and I love you so darn much and always will to dolly.

Well sug I guess I had better close for this time and I’ll write you as soon as possible now dearest. I’ll be looking for your precious letters now dearest. Please be awful, awful careful now dearest and take wonderful care of my sweet little wife. Remember now dearest chin up and always happy.
