My Dearest Darling Wife,
Hello sweet little angel, how is my darling little wife. Awful awful sweet I know and fine I hope. You had better be dearest. Gee darling I got two of the sweetest letters from you today and was I ever thrilled to get them. First time I had any mail for several days Honey. They was the sixth and seventh of September so that is pretty good time. Gosh Honey your sweet letters mean so darn much to me and they are so precious. They make me so darn happy and make me feel so wonderful all over dear. Honey you had got two letters from me one day and one the next in the letters I got today and I was so happy to hear that dear. Honey dear please don’t worry when you don’t hear from me for quite a while sometimes. There might be times when I won’t be able to write for quite a while dear but you know I will always write you as often and as much as possible dear. Darling you are so darn sweet and I love you so awful, awful darn much.
I am feeling fine now dearest and getting along all right. I have plenty of everything now dearest. Well Honey it is plenty hot here today the same as usual. Gee but I am tired of this thing honey. Sure hope the weather is swell at home now dear. Well Honey not very much going on right now, still cleaning up equipment and getting all our things up in shape.
Gee darling I was so darn happy to get your sweet letters today and they were so precious. I hadn’t had any for several days and I was starting to get the blues darling. Gosh honey your sweet letters mean the world and all to me and I sure start getting in the dumps when I can’t get any sweet letters. You always seem so much happier when I get your letters and you have heard from me dear. Gee darling it will be such a happy day when we are back together and won’t have to write letters anymore.
Well darling we have been getting some new guys in. One guy came in the tent next to us last nite and we went in the army about three months before I did and just now coming overseas. Left the States in June. Boy I sure can’t see how some guys are so lucky. Most of these guys coming over now have ratings and they continue to keep them until some of the old guys that have ratings get sick and go back or lose these ratings on account of something and then these new guys go right in their place. Boy it sure does get under a guys skin to stay over here for two years and then new guys come right in the outfit with ratings and fill the places of old guys that we should be taking the place of. Gosh Honey I get so darn discouraged sometimes, been in this thing for over two years now and still the same thing as the day I went in. I never have been in any kind of trouble in anyway and have always done my work but when a new guy comes in an old outfit without a rating, he is just stuck that way until he gets a break some way. There is only so many ratings in an outfit and when they are taken up there isn’t any way for a guy to get one until some rated man leaves or gets broke. I have been in the motor pool for about eighteen months now and been working right beside guys all the time that are one and two stripes, doing the same work and everything. A guy just feels like sitting down and not doing anything sometimes when you get to thinking about it all. These large trucks we have call for a tech. Fifth rating and I have been driving one ever since they got them and still a buck private. This thing will be over one of these days and it will sure be wonderful to get back on the job where you can advance when you work hard. Gosh Honey I will be so darn happy to get out of this thing I won’t know what to do. We will be so darn happy dear and everything will be so heavenly.
Honey you was saying that Virginia Brune said that Warner had been home on furlough and he was married and never even said anything about it and had been married since February. Boy he sure must not think much of his wife not to even bring her home. Probably another of those love at first sight and never knew each other a week or so before they were married. You was saying that Pat was home to and had been in four major battles. Boy he sure has been through a lot. That’s one thing about the navy they get back to the states every once in a while. They have the best go in every way. They get the best food, best living quarters and everything like that. Virginia Brune isn’t married is she Honey? Things are going pretty good every place now and I sure hope they can end that thing over there right away so they can throw all that power over this way. I really believe the whole thing will be over by the end of the next year honey if not before. At least things are shaping up so you can see the end is coming. Gee darling it will be one of the happiest days in our life when this thing is all over. Gee but we will be happy dearest.
Darling you are so darn sweet and I love you so awful, awful darn much and you know I always will dearest. You are so precious and so wonderful in every way dear. Gee darling your wonderful letters had such sweet kisses on them. It looks so wonderful to see your beautiful lip prints on my letters Honey. Won’t it be wonderful when we can hug and kiss each other all we want to dear. Darling I know that God hears our prayers and will answer them and keep us safe and bring us together as soon as possible now. You are so darn sweet honey the most adorable little wife in the world and I love you so darn much and you know I always will dearest.
Well sug I had better close for this time and I’ll write you as soon as possible now. I’ll be looking for your sweet letters now dearest. Please be awful, awful careful now dearest and take good care of my sweet little wife. Remember now dear chin up and always happy. Tell all hello now dear.
