My Darling Jeanette:

Am feeling pretty good again now as my cold is about all over. Am going to the hospital tomorrow morning to have my hand attended to so I may not be writing to you for a few days and then it will be half hunt and peck system with only one finger instead of both index fingers. I’ll write you as soon as I can however, dear. I hope that you are well as ever now.

I received another letter from you yesterday, your #18 of Oct. 27th. Will answer your two letters I have now to get caught up. Your #17 of Oct. 25, rec’d Nov. 4th. Yes, dad wrote me about the article in the Nat. Auto Dealers Assn. Magazine, in fact he sent me the article which I received Friday. It was quite a good article and tells you some things that are not permitted to write. You can see by that what I am doing now. Of course I am not a part of the regiment or battalion mentioned but of this hq. However I do have charge of the activities mentioned as the article said. Co. H. was a very excellent officer and I should like the opportunity to serve under him again sometime. It was he who gave me the fine commendation when he left here. I suppose he gave the article to the magazine. Iasked dad to get a copy of the magazine for you to keep. Maybe Earl D. might have one. Charles C. was right about my writing letters home(and especially so when I don’t like to write them very much). If the C.s have some fresh nuts and peanut brittle they might send me some. I would appreciate it very much. I hate to write to ask them for it. It seems too much like begging for something. I’ll remember you to Holcomb if he comes down here again. I have seen him twice now as he has been here on business.

Your letter #18. Am glad you wrote to Mrs. M. right away. I should like to have her come over to visit us for a while when I get back and we are settled in our home again. I don’t know anything about the bond you mentioned receiving a notice about. I am leaving all of the bond buying up to you as I don’t really keep enough out to buy any here with what extra I send to you from time to time. Perhaps dad bought it for us during the bond drive. You had better do some asking around there about it. I realize that things are scarce there too. I don’t want you to send anything over that is rationed or hard to get when I ask for in edibles. You mentioned about sending some things I asked for. You mentioned going to have lunch with Delores. Did Joe ever get his promotion to Lt. S.G.

I finally got around to mail you the two pictures- lithographs of warships which I said some months ago I had bought. You can put them away with the container until I get back and we will have them framed then. I sent them today. I also mailed you another package containing a pair of Arab slippers. They may too large for you but they will be a keepsake anyway. The package also contained three leather cigarette cases and change purses in leather. You can keep one of the change purses, give one to Dorothy and one to Mother. The cigarette cases are for dad, Don and your dad.(I am not sure if it was three cases and three purses or two cases and four purses If four purse, give one of those to your dad as I think he does not smoke cigarettes.) They aren’t very good but are a little rememberance from North Africa.

Am going to Brunet’s this evening but will leave a little early as I want to get a good night’s sleep and a bath also. The other night I went to the RedCross theater to see “Bombera Moon”. It was fairly good. One night I went to visit a family where one of my officers lives. They are two old maids. We spoke French almost entirely. They were very interesting. One had done some very good painting and some good painting on the china also. I mailed some V mail Xmas cards today. We were limited on the number we could send so I sent to only certain ones. They are to be delivered just before Xmas. Must close now. All of my love, sweetheart, and all of my kisses to my darling wife.
