Monday Sept. 24th- 45

Dear Son,

Well here it is the beginning of the week and what a day it is, raining pretty hard. It has been like this for a couple of days now. We started out yesterday afternoon to go to Eden but we got as far as Catherine and Dick as we had to stop there to pick up a couple of inner tubes for tires on the trailer so Dick got them for us from Sears. We asked him to get some white lead to start painting around the place but they haven’t a bit of it in stock and we can’t get any around here. Dick said maybe they will be getting a lot of things now that the war is over. Well we spent a while with them and then we took a ride to the milk dairy on Halem Avenue for some cream as it is a little cheaper there. Well Bill, Della’s sister-in-law, passed away Friday night at 9 o’clock so Elaine and Dick, Emily, pa and I are going to see her tonight so I ask them over for supper because it would make it pretty late if they have to go home and make supper first. And as your wife isn’t working so she is coming over this afternoon. I am figuring on going to the service tomorrow, I just hope it don’t rain then as it is now. Well Bill we are all feeling fine and we hope you are the same. Hope you are not working too hard and are you still on guard duty?  Well I don’t have any more news so I will close as your pa wants to write a few lines. Hoping this letter finds you in good health and spirits, good luck and love and kisses and take care of yourself. I am thinking of you always. Hoping we will hear from you this week.

Mother and Dad.

Dear Son,

Hi Bill. Well as usual I hope you are in good health. Well kid things are going as ever but are getting some more of the spring weather bad again raining, every few days but manage to keep going a little first the same, well about the batteries of do not know whether the battery was cracked when it was installed or the guy that put it in the car was cracked so did not bother so god is now one, and the lad next door put it in, after he got it for us, as he had to go to Sears, and got some things for his own car. Well Bill about the M. shes a I don’t know what just what it is but think is better to stripple then to wash as it does not come through on the strippple work, as it does on the wash jobs. But on the last first job the one done one tint darker, and it looks, as it might be in the belly job but, after going on the good time they seem to turn out OK so that’s that, well Bill, your Mom mentioned about Della’s sister-in-law well if it rains tomorrow I may take them to the funeral if not I will have to work, say Bill about that monkey that you had on your shoulder some you send it, or won’t they choose to send them to the states and are they tame or do they bite? As I would like to have one for another pet for Pinkey. Well Bill there is not much more that I know of this time but hope you have enough points to get back with us very soon, and wish you the Best of health, and the Best of good Luck with Love from Mother and Dad

Love Bill from us Kiss xxx---
