Tuesday

Dear Mother and Dad,

I’m going to surprise you this week, I’ll write now.  Then wait until I hear from you before I write another letter, so you had best be sending an answer quick.

At this sitting I’ve only got 2 days of K.P. left and am I happy.  You will never know just how happy I am.  I am all tired out from doing that kind of work- getting up so early.  I think maybe I’ll just turn over and die for a little while.

(2)

How’s the speech coming on?

Jack:  I guess they are really starting to pour it on you up at school.  Hope you have gotten all your journals up to date and it won’t be so bad.  Has business started on the uprising for Christmas?  Have you found any more dogs, since you left the girls house?

I hear from Grant, (he got back yesterday) that I have a very nice mother and a cute sister but that she seemed to be rather down on me.  But he sure (3) likes my mother. He was sorry he didn’t meet your Dad, and I am too.

                                                                                                Thursday

I’m off K.P. and am I glad I get to sleep a ½ hour longer in the mornings and am back doing full company duty.

It has started to rain again, and am I disgusted.  I got a new sport back blouse issued to me, and overshoes.  I traded my 1917 blouse off for my new one.

We took I.Q. tests today and have to take more during the second week of January.

Well there isn’t much more to say now but that I sure miss you people and wish I could be with you this Xmas, but depend on it that  I will be next year.

                                    For now, Goodbye.

                                                All my love-

                                                            Joe
