Friday

Dear Mother and Dad,

Well, here I am up in the sticks, we came through snow and rain.  It’s so wet up here that we can’t start work until Monday, so we are getting settled. We have a garage and have got it fixed up pretty well.  We've a pot of beans for dinner tonight maybe they can make a man of me yet.  We took it slow and easy coming up.  I got here in good time for an old car.  The country is flat and windy but it’s a pretty nice place, and boy, is it cold.  I hope you get this letter tomorrow (Sat).  We are all broke but have lots of food.  Plenty of spud and onions.

Well, I’m going to close now as we are going out hunting rabbits and pheasant.  Tell the kids hello, and tell Jack to study or else quit school, that’s a lot of money to waste.

                                                Well, lots of love,

                                                                        Joe.

You can write me.
