France- Sunday

Jan. 14th

Dear Cattie,

I’ve just begun to rewrite again today, after a lapse of nine days. I’ve been awfully busy, and I’m sure that you understand. I’ve written four letters so far today, in a voice attempt to catch up. But I believe it will take another day yet.

There’s about four inches of snow on the ground now, and it’s pretty cold. “Santa” reminds me of home in this respect.

Say, I’m really doing okay learning the French language. And I should be quite a linguist before I get home. Guess I’ll leave to master German next, but it won’t do me much good, as we’re not permitted to fraternize with them.

I’ve been thinking of taking some snap-shots while the snow is still on the ground; but seems as though I never “get around to it.” Perhaps I’ll get an opportunity tomorrow. And, if so, I’ll send you one of course.

By the way—how’s about sending me a cake sometime from William’s Bakery? IF you will, make it a big white one with chocolate icing, and packed in a tin box, which absolutely has to be airtight. If it isn’t, I’ll just have a box of crumbs when it gets here. Ha Ha

I’m feeling swell, but when I decided to go to the dental clinic a few weeks ago—we moved! Now, there isn’t one near us; so I s’pose I’ll have to wait a while.

S’cuse this shorty cattie; but there’s very little news. And I haven’t received any mail for quite some time. T’isn’t your fault, of course.

Tell Joe and Aunt Irene “hello,” and I’ll write again soon.

                                                                            Love- Urbey
